This year's 'Recharge' snow camp season was amazing as God worked through 30 youth groups over 6 weekends. The word Recharge means to revive, restore energy, stamina or enthusiasm. When most hear the word "recharge", the image brought to mind is usually one of batteries. Taking that definition and applying it to the spiritual lives of youth across southern Ontario, Word of Life Recharge 2010 has provided an opportunity for over seven hundred teens to hear the truth of the Word of God and allow it to change their lives. Each weekend saw new ministry opportunities and were able to witness 49 youth place their trust in Jesus Christ for their salvation, 324 youth made a public declaration of their desire to stand up, unashamed, for their Saviour, and 426 took a 21-day challenge to study their bible.
Saturday morning held a new twist to our program; something Recharge has never done before. Lead completely by our team of Bible Institute students, four effective and efficient dramas were presented to our guests. The impact was huge. In conversing with youth leaders from the various weekends, many made comments that the dramas were "so relevant", "intense", and "a clear demonstration of what our teens are facing". Some leaders were able to use the dramas to initiate conversations with their teens to discuss a biblical viewpoint on the issues presented. Praise God for His work in directing our students in the dramas! Saturday evenings Scott Foreman (Youth Ministries Coordinator) shared a unique study on how to have an effective Bible study, enabling youth to know how to dig into the Word of God. As students and staff we feel blessed to be a part of this ministry that we are so unworthy of. It's amazing what God can do when people take a step of faith and surrender their time to the Lord for His use and service. God has allowed this ministry to extend beyond our campus to satellite snow camp where students or staff travel to the youth and run a snow camp in their area. Our teams traveled to Huntsville, Cochrane and Goulais River. These smaller snow camps were just as much a blessing because there was more opportunity for one on one time with the teens and many friendships were made at these extensions of Recharge.
